The Residence Inn Binghamton presents a mixed experience, offering spacious suites with kitchen facilities and a convenient location near Binghamton University. Recent reviews highlight the value proposition but also reveal concerns about dated interiors, noise levels, and inconsistent housekeeping services. While some guests appreciate the apartment-like feel and breakfast options, others have raised significant issues regarding room condition and maintenance.
Great location and amenities, clean and good size rooms. Can be better on the parking space.
EDIT: 01/26/2026 - Checked my Marriott account, I wasn't credited for my full last week. Missing 7 nights and ~5000 points. Corporate and this hotel completely dropped the ball on compensating me for a frustrating and rather disgusting stay. Local and corporate level failures (fraud?) point to systematic organizational decline. Even though I have over 200 nights with Marriott, will likely not stay at a Marriott property again. I don't pay $1000s to be frustrated—I can stay home and do that. During a month-long stay, over 1 week and 4 trips to the front desk, no one cleaned my room. I had to clean my room myself and take out recycling and trash. Housekeeping seems to be on vacation here, not the guests
I was a little concerned when I booked after reading all of the reviews stating that it needed updating but it was a wonderful stay. Does it look a little dated? Yes, but they are in fantastic condition and very clean. The staff was welcoming and accommodating, we totally enjoyed our room. The breakfast had lots of great options. We would come back in a heartbeat!
Currently writing this review at 4am. Do not get a room on the first floor. The room directly above us you can hear every step they take. For the last half hour all I’ve heard was stomping, running and jumping, going on while I speak. That being said the rooms are nice and clean.
The Residence Inn Binghamton was along our cross country move drive after 7+ hour driving and ended up being a small college town hotel. With outdoor access pet friendly suites, it almost felt like a small apartment. The room had a large kitchen space for a hotel suite to the right, and an open concept area with walking through the living room area with a sliding glass door (with a Charley-Bar) before the queen mattress at the back of the suite with the bathroom to the right. Before the bathroom, you have two closets (one of our closets couldn’t close all the way or it would lift the door frame). The bathroom set up had a large counter area with a sink that had no stopper or drain covering. The room to the right of the sink area that had the bathtub and toilet was very small with a complete lack of space to comfortably turn around to be able to use the toilet with the door shut. As for sleeping, the queen mattress was a cushion firm Sealy mattress with a mattress protector (top protection, mesh sides); not too hard but definitely not the most comfortable for side sleeping. ***ONE NIGHT OF LODGING IN LATE JUNE, probably won’t ever be in the Binghamton area again but would not reconsider booking a room due to the ability to hear the upstairs suite guests walking around and their TV***
It wasn't bad, except over a week and 4 trips to the front desk no one cleaned my room. --> Housekeeping seems to be on vacation here not the guests. It's OK, but in this case I didn't get all that I paid for.
This hotel needs some TLC. Here are my Pros & Cons Cons: *One of the original Residence Inn designs, if you're not on the first floor, you will be climbing stairs with no elevators available. *The rooms look like they haven't been remodeled for 15-20 years. Things are worn and outdated. For example, there was a large hole in the carpet in the middle of the living space. *The air conditioner in our unit, on full bore, could only get the temperature down to 77F during the daytime, but got things very chilly at night. *The parking lot isn't large enough for the number of vehicles parked there; we had to park on another side of the property because all the spaces for our building were taken. * The parking lot needs to be repaved, badly. It's covered in loose gravel and has multiple potholes. *There's a gate on the property and multiple people walked through it pushing bicycles and went out the other side of the property, using it as some kind of shortcut. *You cannot turn left out of the road that services the property. You must turn to the right and make a U-turn at the next intersection with a stoplight. Pros: *Very close to Binghamton University! * The en suite kitchen worked really well, including the very fast ice-maker. There were enough pots and pans to cook a full meal. *The guest laundry is not overpriced and works really quickly. One very large load was dried completely in about an hour, with no need to extend or redo the "drying." * The flowers and landscaping are very attractive
Just turn around and find another place. I’m a Marriott Platinum and usually only stay at Marriotts. The outside is rotted wood slats, the maintenance sheds paint job was worn off like an old barn. The road is completely pitted around the entire complex. The rooms had been redone but the whole of the inside is also worn. Dirty baseboards etc. This suite was over $300 a night. Really outrageous. The staff doesnt answer the phone before 11 am. (I tried several times earlier. ) I didnt bother to eat, the dining room looks scary. The stay was topped off by a group of college students partying till all hours and smoking weed at 5:30. Wow. Worst hotel experience ever.
This has to be the worst Residence Inn we have ever stayed in!! The people above us were loud, probably didn’t help that the hotel is very old and dated and needs an update badly. They were up all night and kept us up, jumping off the bed etc. The best was the traffic nightmare though! The coffee shop down the street had a BOGO special and allowed the line of over 50 cars to keep us from getting to our hotel, then they were taking up the parking lot of the hotel. It took us over a half hour setting in our car burning gas to get close to our room, unbelievable! Station someone out front to keep cars from the parking lot! Beware, do not stay here!
I’d say that this place is good, and the room is actually HUGE, but the quality of the room is suspicious. This place literally gives you an apartment for the price of a room, and my room was lofted with 2 bathrooms and 2 beds and a couch bed. I think the space was HUGE but it seemed really old and aged and kinda rustic.
