Traditions Hotel & Spa offers a historic and charming atmosphere with a focus on relaxation and a unique setting. Recent reviews highlight the positive experiences with spa treatments and friendly staff, but also reveal concerns about room size, outdated facilities, and persistent odors. Overall, it’s a mixed experience with strong positive elements tempered by some dated aspects.
Regarding the spa: Massage therapist, Sara was absolutely amazing. She was attentive, skilled, and made me feel completely comfortable throughout my session. Her technique was exactly what I needed, and I left feeling truly relaxed and cared for. Toward the end of the massage, there was a very loud drilling type noise that was unfortunately quite disruptive and startled me a bit. I completely understand that unexpected things can happen, but in a spa environment (especially one that people intentionally budget and look forward to for rest and relaxation) maintaining a quiet, peaceful atmosphere is so important. I did mention it to the front desk at checkout, though they said they didn’t hear anything, so I’m not sure what it may have been? I’m grateful it happened near the end rather than at the beginning, but I wanted to share the feedback in hopes it can be looked into for future guests experiences. Sara herself was wonderful, and I would absolutely book with her again
Transition Hotel and Spa in Johnson City is nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment you step inside, you’re wrapped in the elegance of a beautifully preserved historic building that radiates old-world charm. The architecture alone tells a story—graceful details, rich character, and a warmth that modern hotels simply can’t replicate. Every corner feels thoughtfully curated, blending classic sophistication with comfort. The atmosphere is serene and refined, making it the perfect escape from the ordinary. There’s a sense of history here, but it never feels dated—only timeless. My only complaint is that we only got to stay one night.
AWESOME venue for class reunion!! Large tent with patio, BEAUTIFUL!!! Food was great!! Staff terrific, breakfast was really good! Room was good! Spa and hair salon were super! Love this place! Will stay here anytime we’re in the area. Golf could have been better, but they don’t control the weather! Had a top notch weekend! Beautiful setting too!
No matter what don't stay in room number 3112. The kitchen is below you so they are welcoming you with loud music from 6-9 pm. But this isn’t the worst part of the place. There is some kind of air vent or some kind of machine that is on for 24/7. As soon as we got into the room we tried to switch to another one because we knew we couldn’t sleep there. But they couldn’t help with it we tried to sleep but we were up all night, we turned on the TV but that did not help. In the morning we tried again with the front desk to get another room but they were fully booked so we cancelled the rest of the nights and we left immediately. I wish I could say something nice about this place but I can’t at least the view is nice.
Loved this spot! It's beautiful on a golf course. Room was small..only 1 chair within the room. No mini fridge or microwave. Chose this spot because it has a restaurant. Only problem it is closed on sun and mon and we were there on Monday! Nothing close by and after a long day on the road we ate some "snacks" I had brought for the trip. Very nice breakfast however and beautiful presentation. Would go back but check on rest days
Had to book a hotel last minute and Traditions was the only one that had rooms at a relatively reasonable price with queen sized beds. The campus is awesome and is a throw back to a more glorious time in yester year. They have done a great job refurbishing the place while keeping rustic charm. It feels like an upscale B&B when you walk in with its long stair case and vaulted ceilings. It has great atmosphere. For those looking for a place that has some character this hotel is a rare gem. The breakfast was amazing (or at least real... IE real bacon and real eggs!!!) The room was a little small but clean and comfortable. I'd definitely stay here again if I was in the area. Could almost see myself coming back just to relax and spend some time walking the grounds or reading in the beautiful colonial style sitting rooms. Would like to try the restaurant next time too!
First and foremost - the staff was wonderful! Friendly, helpful, and professional. The location is lovely. Beautiful historic building, but renovated to keep the history. The grounds are pretty and the views are lovely. The room got a four only because it didn’t have a tiny fridge. We like to travel with cheese, fruit, and protein bars which need refrigeration over night. Seems petty, but we try not to eat junk food in the car. The bathroom had been recently renovated. Shower was immaculate and had great water pressure. Breakfast was fine. The young lady who prepped it was very nice. We would stay there again. With golf clubs.
I really enjoyed my stay at Traditions, which is perched on top of a hill that overlooks most of Binghamton. I wished I played golf so I can take in more of the amazing views this resort has to offer but perhaps in the next life. The only reason this is four stars instead of five is that I was disappointed by the size and the condition of my room. The rooms are quite small and while I appreciate the hotel's efforts to maintain the antique, old-fashioned vintage feel, I certainly felt some elements in the room could use a modern upgrade. I would definitely visit again but with the expectation that is an older hotel that could use a refresher.
A Magical Stay My Daughter, Grandmother, and I recently took a road trip to visit family in Binghamton. From the moment we arrived at Traditions at the Glen in New York, we knew we were in for something special. A sanctuary among stunning natural beauty, this hotel offers a rare combination of breathtaking scenery, heartfelt hospitality, and rich history — all of which made our experience unforgettable. The scenery is absolutely impeccable — nestled amidst lush greenery with breathtaking views in every direction, it felt like we had stepped into a peaceful retreat away from the everyday. The gardens adorning the estate were in full fragrant bloom — Butterflies fluttered among pink blooms and red roses, while bees hummed softly, savoring each blossom’s sweetness. Around the lawn’s fountain, rose bushes blushed in full bloom as birds dipped playfully in the water, sending sparkling droplets into the air—a quiet ballet of nature in perfect harmony. Whether it was early morning mist rising from the hills or the golden glow of sunset through the trees, every moment was picture-perfect. One of the most remarkable aspects of Traditions is its origin as a private residence. That warm history is still very much alive in the atmosphere, creating a unique sense of coziness and charm that is truly a treasure in itself. The elegant architecture, thoughtfully preserved details, and welcoming common spaces made us feel like we were stepping into a beautifully cared-for home rather than just a hotel. But what truly made our stay exceptional was the people. The staff at Traditions are some of the kindest and most passionate individuals we’ve ever encountered. A heartfelt thank you to Barbara at the front desk who welcomed us with such warmth and professionalism that we immediately felt at home. She went above and beyond to make sure our check-in was seamless and that we had everything we needed throughout our stay. A special shout-out goes to Kayla, the bartender and hospitality waitress whose friendly smile, attentive service, and genuine care made every evening in the lounge and dining room feel like catching up with an old friend. Her attention to detail and warm demeanor added a personal touch that truly made a difference. And we can’t forget Larry, who oversaw breakfast each morning. His pride in the kitchen and hospitality shined through in every delicious bite and every kind word. He brought such a comforting energy to the start of each day with a hearty meal and a kind smile. Though we didn’t catch the names of every team member, it’s clear that every single staff member at Traditions takes pride in their work and truly values their guests. Their collective hospitality and passion made our stay not just comfortable, but genuinely heartwarming. Traditions at the Glen isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a place to feel at peace, to connect, and to create memories. We left feeling refreshed, deeply cared for, and already looking forward to returning. Thank you to the entire team for such a beautiful and heartfelt experience.
Loved our family’s recent stay at Traditions! The location is picturesque and tranquil. The hotel is charming and quaint and staff was phenomenal! Jeff at the front desk was friendly and helpful. Larry ran the breakfast service and made sure we had everything we needed. Loved the bacon! I can’t wait to stay here again if we ever pass through the area again. In fact, we enjoyed it so much I’d consider coming back just to stay at Tradition. I don’t golf but there’s a beautiful golf course attached to the hotel. I’m so pleases we found this gem!
